Ice hockey world championships have been held since 1920, when the competition was held in Belgium. Before 2012, Finland has hosted the men's Ice Hockey World Championships on six occasions: in 1965, 1974, 1982, 1991, 1997, and 2003. Finland will host this year's World Championships with Sweden.
